SkateDC Weekend 2018

It's bigger, it's better, it's later! SkateDC Weekend 2018 offers four -- yes, four -- days of skating and other activities in and around the nation's capital. Please join Washington Area Roadskaters on Memorial Day weekend, May 25 - 28.

What will we do with our bonus day? More skating, of course. And, for those seeking a different sort of adventure, a road trip to the Billy Goat Trail, for rock scrambling and spectacular views at Great Falls Park. Please let us know if you'd prefer to skate or hike on Monday, using the poll that's a pinned post in the event discussion. As the event approaches, we'll match hikers with local drivers. If you're hiking, please bring proper footwear.

We'll announce the skate routes after we've set those to address the challenges and opportunities of holding our event during Rolling Thunder, which leads hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists on a dedicated, closed-off route through D.C.

We'll be back at the Palomar this year, at 2121 P Street NW. You can get the group rates by asking for the Washington Area Roadskaters block when calling the hotel, at 877-866-3070, or by using this unwieldy link (the short one wasn't cooperating):

Rates are even lower this year! A room with one king or two queen beds is $149 per night for two people, $179 for three, or $209 for four. The rates extend to Monday, but the link does not (yet) reflect that. So if you're staying through Monday, please call the hotel instead of using the link.

The group rates are available for rooms booked by April 25. But please book your room as soon as possible. Our block is based on last year's registration numbers. We can expand it, if needed, for as long as the hotel has rooms available. But rooms here and elsewhere will fill up this holiday weekend.

National Skate Patrol:

SkateDC Weekend is a National Skate Patrol scheduled event. If you are a member of the NSP, please let us know if you would like to help with marking turns or (especially) with sweeping.
