Explain the feeling you had the first time you put on skates.
The feeling was strange and unique, My balance was completely in a new element!
A bit like you are walking for the first time.

What is your inspiration to keep skating?
I have been skating for the last 30 years. My inspirations are based on the different people that I have met over all those years. I always find something interesting to discover in the different disciplines of skating.
I consider myself a skater and not only as a Bowl rider or a Street skater or Roller Soccer player or a downhill skater or a skate teacher…

Over the last few years I started to do trips with my friend David who has a lot of experience on roads. We have done some trips on the road (Lyon to Marseille, Marseille to Monaco.) Now we are planning a trip from Marseille to Strasbourg in May. Follow us on Instagram @kevin_quintin_sk8andrun

Those kinds of experiences create strong introspective feelings. That’s an inspiration for me to be able to skate for hours and hours in order to reach the new goal that I have: the 24H le Mans SOLO race.

We truly believe skating makes a better world. How do you think skating makes the world a better place?
The world…. So many thing to say…..
When you skate you feel free, and that’s how it should be in regular life for every single human being.
I see a positive way to express yourself and move from one point to the other. In the world it always as been about how to move and discover the world for different reasons.
It’s a way to be in a healthy, even when you take risks skating. (street skating,Bowl,Downhill.)
I truly think that skating brings a positive and a friendly vibe for majority of people. For example, when you skate down the streets people are looking at you like  you are doing something extraordinary. My feeling is that people just want to feel free; just as you are when you skate. Accessibility is one of my goals. With my skate school we give skate classes in some less fortunate areas to show people that they can do it. And they love it…

Me, my skates, and I: a long story, 85% of my life I have been on my wheels, so I definitely think that we are making the world better with skating just because when you skate you feel free and when people see you skating they smile.

How do you keep progressing and reinventing yourself?
Learning is one of the most important things in life for me; without learning you don’t grow.
What pushes me to progress is to go deep in the effort and give the best that I have. I’m not doing the things to be the best.
I don’t like the idea of staying in the comfort zone. iIneed to feel the red zone often to feel alive.

What’s the most helpful tip you want to share with any skater?
As long as you smile on your skates your skates will smile back to you.

Imagine a world filled with animals who can skate. If you could be any of those animals what would you be and why?
There is an animal that has always followed me since I was a kid from my dad to the Bowl of Marseille, the “wolf”.

It’s representing me well; alone you are nothing, I ‘have always been skating with my friends sharing life and experiences across our travels.  I’ve spent many years teaching the new generation, and showing them that friendship is a very important value of life.

And the funny thing is that my favorite meat is lamb….
