Explain the feeling you had the first time you put on skates.
Joy! I loved that I could turn my college campus into a playground and that the skills being developed would make my skiing better.

What is your inspiration to keep skating?
Regardless of what season it is, I’m interested in improving my skiing. The movements that make great skiing can be replicated in skating and it’s so much easier to accumulate quality repetitions than skiing.

We truly believe skating makes a better world. How do you think skating makes the world a better place?
I call it self improvement through movement. Skating is a dynamic activity that promotes engagement with the surroundings. Master movements and strategies that help you successfully navigate challenges lights you up! That reaction helps make you be a better person.

How do you keep progressing and reinventing yourself?
It’s a combination: trying new things but also staying committed to others Whether it’s a new skill that makes you feel like a newb or a familiar one that you are honing, the way to improvement is the same in all things: Take a risk, commit, then reflect. You’ll always learn something of value.

What’s the most helpful tip you want to share with any skater?
Commit to it! There are so many different styles of skating and so many things  you may do on your skates within each style. Find the thing that lights you up and keep getting after it.

Imagine a world filled with animals who can skate. If you could be any of those animals what would you be and why?
A giraffe. I sometimes feel a little gangly and clumsy and when I get it right there are a lot of things going on to make it so.
