What’s that saying??? Hindsight is 20/20. Sounds about right when describing the year that pretty much impacted every person around the world in one way or another. While people may have started that year with tag lines and hashtags stating, “The year never looked so good. #2020vision .” We all ended it with a new take on what it is to live in a tightly knit global community.
The social and/or physical distancing that many of us have had to adopt as a new way of life has had a positive impact on inline skating. Although the signs of an increase of inline skaters had already started in 2019, the amount of active inline skaters took a huge leap in 2020. Many people around the world picked up inline skating again in the spring and summer of 2020. The effect on sales are unknown, but shops around the world asked for more and more inventory to meet the demand. Yes, it is reminiscent of the 1990’s.
The fact that inline skating benefits a healthier body and mind has been proven now. It is great way to clear your mind and challenge your coordination and balance. It’s also a great way to get a whole body workout. All these benefits and you can still maintain the required social distance even while skating with friends and family.
It is from this perspective that we selected our most powerful and striking photos from last year. And as you can see, most of them are individual skaters enjoying a solo session or a group respectfully maintaining social distance. Take a look at the selection of our top 2020 pictures.
