Come Join Us at The North Shore Inline Skate Marathon

Come Join Us at The North Shore Inline Skate Marathon

The NorthShore Inline Skate Marathon is an iconic skate event that is renowned as an amazing race and fun skate festival.  Founded in 1996, the NorthShore Inline Marathon grew to become one of the world’s largest skating races.  The event, which takes place on September 17, 2022, is open to all levels while also including some of the top athletes such as Olympians, professional hockey players and speed skaters among others.  Rollerblade® will be onsite with our demo van, skate tips and fun clinics.

Many people are drawn to the beautiful course that follows a scenic drive in between Two Harbors and Duluth on Minnesota’s North Shore of Lake Superior and is similar to the legendary Grandma’s Marathon course.  You’ll get beautiful views of the lake, go through some forests, and even get an urban experience navigating through the tunnels of I-35.  The finish line is next to the William A Irving, which is an incredible historic ship that you can visit.

Not quite ready for the full marathon?  Then join us for the half marathon or 10K instead. Or, if you really want a challenge, try the Combined North Shore Inline, which is 39.3 miles.  Skaters race the half marathon, hop on the bus for a short rest, and then race the full marathon to compete for the fastest combined time.

This year, you can join the race in person or choose to do a virtual event, but if you attend in person, you don’t want to miss the Skate Fest Events.  There are several fun, educational events to choose from:

  • Skate Fest – Friday, September 17 from 12pm – 9pm – At the NorthShore Inline Marathon Skate Expo, there will be clinics happening all day, a skate park, skate cross course and our Rollerblade® demo van will be onsite as well
  • Friday Night Skate – Friday, September 17 at 7pm – The Friday Night Skate that will start at the NSIM finish line is a social skate that will loop around Duluth’s downtown and Canal Park area
  • SKATE JAM LIVE - Saturday September 18  from 7pm – 9pm with The Northwoods Band
